Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing. – Theodore Roosevelt

Confidence will let you pass all challenges life throws at you. You will be unstoppable.
If there is one thing that holds you back, it is fear. And if you are able to conquer fear, you can reach the top of the world.

You must be thinking that it’s easier said than done. The fear of failure is a powerful thing. It can make you doubt your abilities. And when that seed of doubt is planted, it is hard to surpass it. But at some point in your life, you need to hold your head high, kick that fear away and dive into the situation headfirst.

And we will help you with the process of gaining confidence. Here are 10 ways to teach you how to Build Confidence.

1. Face Your Fears

be confident

Are you scared of heights? Do you get nervous talking to strangers? Well, you won’t get over them until you have faced them. One of the easiest ways to boost your confidence is by facing your fears.

Stop yourself before you reach the thought that you can’t do it. Don’t underestimate yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Take it one step at a time. You can face one of your fears a day. And once you have conquered that fear, you will be confident enough to conquer the rest as well.

2. Act Confident

You must have heard the expression: “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.”

Most people underestimate the power of mind over matter. The truth is, it actually works. Tell yourself that you are not afraid and start acting confident. Trust us, you will be more confident. The tone of voice, the way you dress, the look on your face all show your confidence. Pretty soon this will no longer be an act, but your way of life.

3. Be Yourself and Never Apologize for it

Stop living your life according to other people’s expectations. Be yourself and never apologize for it. Are you a guy who loves to get a manicure every now and then? Great, let’s go to the salon! People will always find a way to criticize your life, but that does not mean that you have to listen to it.

Ignore all the white noise around you and live your life the way you want. You can’t control their words, so why bother?

 4. Dress nicely.

The way you dress may look insignificant, but it is, in fact, the opposite.  If you dress nicely, you’ll feel great about yourself. You’ll feel successful, self-confident, presentable and ready to tackle the world. Now, dressing nicely means something different for everyone, something that looks good and fresh. It doesn’t necessarily mean wearing an expensive outfit but could mean casual clothes that are nice looking and presentable.

5. There is No Such Thing as Perfection

Are you striving to be perfect? Stop, because there is no such thing as perfection. A lot of time people think that they need to be perfect, and that causes self-doubt. And having self-doubt can cause your confidence to go down the drain.

Be the awesome and amazing self you are, and let go of the idea of perfection that you have in your mind. You are perfect the way you are, even if you make mistakes or over think your decisions.

6. Body Language Matters

Body Language Matters

Did you know that posture shows how confident you are? Do you go to your job interviews with your head held low and your shoulders slouched? Yes, that has to change. That posture shows your fear.

Stand up tall and walk with your head held high. Smile, and make eye contact.
You can practice these things in front of the mirror; it will boost your confidence.

7. Meditation and Exercise

Meditation is not just for calmness and anger management, but also to gain confidence. Practicing meditation and mindfulness increases your focus and self-control. And these things help boost your self-confidence.

The same goes for exercise. It helps you stay away from the feelings of anxiety and depression. And when you are active, you feel like there is no hurdle that can stop you from reaching your goal.

8. Positive Vibes Only

Negative people have a way of crumbling your self-confidence. And you need to cut those people out of your life, immediately. If you have a friend who criticizes your every move, they are not really your friend. Don’t let them tell you that your work isn’t good enough. Don’t let the bully win.

Surround yourself with people who love and support you for you are and don’t act as critics. #PositveVibesOnly!

9. Celebrate Small Victories

Did you talk to your boss without stuttering? Did you nail that presentation without making a single mistake? That calls for a celebration!

No victory is too small. You need to celebrate them all equally. And celebrating these small victories will give you the confidence to take on the big issues as well. The confidence you gain from these short victories will fuel the fire to achieve bigger goals.

10. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

just do it

Do you always choose to be the researcher rather than the presenter when working on a group project? That needs to change. If you don’t get out of your comfort zone, you won’t be able to overcome your fears.

It may be hard for you the first time, but remember that you have support from your team. You just need to take the first step, and then greatness will follow through.

11. Mute Negative Thoughts

Is there a voice at the back of your head telling you that you can’t do it? You need to mute it. Sometimes your biggest enemy is you, and you need to change that.
A self pep-talk that you can do anything you put your mind to is due, and you better do it today.

You won’t be able to kick your fears away overnight.
But these steps will help you take that first step towards being the bold and confident person that we know you are.
